The English Premier League has returned today with the match between Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford FC. After the World Cup break, we witnessed a very thrilling game to restart the EPL. Despite conceding two goals against Brentford, The Spurs successfully returned two to tie the clash at the Gtech Stadium.

Match Report

Thomas Frank, the manager of Brentford FC, set up his team formation with 3-5-2. He took the challenge by using this attacking formation against a top side, Tottenham Hotspur.

On the other hand, Spurs boss Antonio Conte played his team in a 3-4-3. He used two wing-backs along with three center-backs. In the front, Harry Kane lead the attack with Son and Kuluseveski.

From the beginning, the visiting team tried to take possession. But the home team looked very threatening whenever they got the ball. They were the deadliest in the counter-attacks. In the 15th minute, Brentford FC stunned the Spurs at the Gtech Stadium. Midfielder Vitaly Janelt scored a brilliant goal to take the lead for Brentford FC.

Conceding the goal, Tottenham Hotspur became desperate to find the equalizer. But they made the same mistake. To push the home team, the Spurs defenders went to the upper side. Therefore, Brentford created another chance, and Ivan Tony scored in the 44th minute. However, the match referee ruled out the goal due to offside.

After the break, Brentford tried not to concede any goal. Moreover, they doubled their lead in the 54th minute. This time, Ivan Tony found the net with the help of Norgaard. It seemed Brentford was winning the match. But the drama was yet to come.

Conceding two goals against Brentford FC, Tottenham Hotspur kept pressing highly. Finally, they returned a goal in the 65th minute. Captain Harry Kane stepped forward to score this goal. He converted it with a powerful header.

After that, the home team became a bit nervous. Their defense was not good enough as they were in the first half. As a result, Brentford FC conceded again. In the 71st minute, The Spurs got the equalizer as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg found the net. However, both team couldn’t score more in the remaining minutes. Therefore, the match ended in a 2-2 tie.
