Today, the UEFA Champions League will feature two matches. Current champion Chelsea FC will host the French side, LOSC Lille. At the same time, the Italian club Juventus will play the Spanish side Valencia FC. Both matches are the first leg of the round of 16.

Chelsea VS Lille

The current champion Chelsea are ready to host the French club LOSC Lille at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have qualified for the Round of 16 from Group H. They became the second in this group. On the other side, the Blues are in the 3rd at the point table of the English Premier League. They are four points ahead of their closest rival, Manchester United.

As for Lille, they don’t seem to be doing well in their domestic league. They are standing in the 11th with 36 points. Moreover, they have won two of their previous five league games. But, the French club did an amazing job in the UEFA Champions League.  They have qualified for the Round of 16, becoming the top team in their respective group. So, there is no doubt that the match between Chelsea and Lille is going to be exciting.

The English club Chelsea have played only two games against LOSC Lille. Both matches were in the 2019-2020 campaign of the UEFA Champions League., Before that, both teams never met against each other. However, Chelsea have won in those matches against the French side, scoring four goals and conceding two in those meetings. On the other hand, Chelsea have lost only one of their previous ten clashes against any French teams.

Juventus VS Villarreal

The Spanish club Villarreal FC will host the Italian giant, Juventus FC at El Madrigal. Both Juventus and Villarreal aren’t performing well in their domestic league. Even though Juventus are in the top four, Atalanta are not far behind them. Besides, Villarreal are also having a difficult time in La Liga. They are out of the top four. But as the home team, Villarreal will get an extra advantage from the gallery. They will have massive support from the stadium.

Dusan Vlahovis is likely to make his Champions League debut for Juventus. He has already scored in Serie A. But he is yet to prove himself in the UCL. On the other side, Juventus will miss the service of the Argentine forward Paulo Dybala. He and Leonardo Bonucci are suffering from the injury. Both players are in doubt. But the manager will wait for them till the last moment of the match.
