The UEFA Champions League starts today

UEFA Champions League Cup

The wait is over because the UEFA Champions League for the 2021-22 season is starting today. It is an honor for every club to participate in the Champions League. The best clubs from the top leagues participate here. Sixteen teams from eight groups will play their first game on the opening day.

Group E

Two matches will be held in Group E today. FC Barcelona will face FC Bayern Munich at the Camp Nou, the home ground of FC Barcelona. This match is one of the most attractive games today. Last year, FC Bayern Munich destroyed them scoring 8 goals. It was one of the biggest defeats for Barcelona in the Champions League history. Moreover, Lionel Messi has left Barcelona in the summer window. So, they have to fight against Bayern Munich without their biggest star, Messi. However, FC Barcelona are in the process of forming a new team. They signed Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia, and Sergio Aguero. With them, fans are looking forward to watching a competitive game against the Bavarians.

The second game of Group E is between Dynamo Kyiv and Benfica. Both matches from Group E will start at the same time.

Group F

Four teams from Group F will play their first game. Manchester United will play against the Young Boys. This game is very special for the fans of Manchester United because of Cristiano Ronaldo. After ages, Ronaldo will play for the Reds in the Champions League. He already played his first game for Manchester United, where he scored two impressive goals. Now, fans are eagerly waiting to see him in the UCL with Manchester United T-shirt. The second match of this group will be between Villarreal and Atalanta. With the start of the Group F matches, the UEFA Champions League will get started.

Group G

Like other groups, there will be two games in Group G. Sevilla will host RB Salzburg at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium. In the last meeting of both teams, Sevilla beat RB Salzburg in the UEFA Cup first round. On the other hand, Lille will face Wolfsburg at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, the home ground of Lille.

Group H

Chelsea, the current winner of the UEFA Champions League, will play today against Zenit in Group H. Chelsea did an excellent job in last year’s tournament. Moreover, they signed Romelu Lukaku from Inter Millan and brought Saul from Atletico on loan. It seems like they are stronger than the previous year. The match between Chelsea and Zenit will be at Stamford Bridge, the home ground of Chelsea. The second match of Group B will be between Juventus and Malmo at Eleda Stadion.
