Tri-nation series: Pakistan got two victories in a row

Pakistan have been showing their strength in T20 cricket just before the ICC T20 World Cup. They have got their second successive victory in the tri-nation series by defeating the host, New Zealand. Today, Pakistan beat the home team by six wickets at Hagley Oval. Pakistani skipper Babar Amaz became the Player of the Match for his unbeaten 79 runs in this game.

Match Report

Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, won the toss and decided to bat first in this match. So, the Black Caps started their batting innings with Finn Allen and Devon Conway. Both batters tried to get a flying start for New Zealand. But Pakistani bowler Mohammad Wasim didn’t let it happen. He picked up the wicket of Finn Allen in the 3rd over.

However, Devon Conway handled the situation with the skipper, Kane Williamson. Both were looking good on the crease. Together they added 61 runs on the scoreboard. But their partnership broke in the 11th over as Mohammad Nawaz picked up Devon Conway. Nevertheless, Conway added 36 runs with two sixes and two fours before losing the wicket.

Mohammad Nawaz hit again in his next over. This time, he bowled out the Kiwi skipper, Kane Williamson. After that, Glenn Phillips and Mark Chapman tried to add runs. But Phillips departed the crease with 28 runs, while Chapman lost his wicket after scoring 32 runs. Relying on their runs, New Zealand scored 147 runs in 20 overs.

Chasing the target, Pakistan added 36 runs on the opening wicket. But Mohammad Rizwan, the No.1 batsman in T20 cricket, failed to get enough runs for the team. He lost his wicket, scoring only four runs. In addition, Pakistan lost another wicket in the following over. This time, Shan Masood returned to the pavilion without scoring any runs.

However, Pakistani skipper Babar Amaz remained very strict on the crease. He made a vital partnership with Shadab Khan. They picked up 61 runs together on the scoreboard. Although Shadabbb Khan departed the crease after scoring 34, Babar Azam continued adding runs. He remained not out in 79 runs, which helped Pakistan to chase the target in 19 overs.
