UCL Round of 16: Liverpool beat Inter Milan

The English giant Liverpool have beaten the Serie A champion, Inter Milan, in the first leg of the Round of 16. Last night, the All Reds netted twice at the San Siro stadium, the home ground of Inter Milan. However, the Klopp boys will host the Italian side to play the second leg of the Round of 16 on March 9 at Anfield. On the other hand, FC Bayern Munich have failed to get the full three points against RB Salzburg. They shared the points with the home team at the Red Bull Arena Stadium.

Last night, Inter Milan welcomed the English side, Liverpool, at San Siro. In this very crucial match, the managers of both teams made several changes in their squad. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp put some young players in the starting XI. He played Harvey Elliott in this clash against Inter Milan. Moreover, he is the youngest player to play the UEFA Champions League for Liverpool.

On the other side, the home team manager Simone Inzaghi played his team in a 3-5-2 formation. He used two wing-backs in this clash. The manager stuck with Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez and Serbian striker Edin Dzeko in the front.

Both teams played very attacking football from the beginning of the match. They had several chances to take the lead first. In the 16th minute, Inter Milan were very close to scoring the first goal, but Hakan Calhanoglu’s shot hit the goal post. Liverpool created some chances as well. However, both teams couldn’t find the net in the first half. As a result, the first half ended in 0-0.

Coming back from the break, the home team looked more dangerous. They were pressing highly in the second half of the match. In the 60th minute, Inter striker Edin Dzeko scored a goal. But the match referee declared that it was offside. However, the momentum changed dramatically when the Liverpool manager replaced Diego Jota with Roberto Firmino.

In the 75th minute, the Brazilian scored with a brilliant header. Moreover, the visitors became more aggressive after taking the lead. They netted again at the very last moment of the match. Mo Salah scored that goal in the 83rd minute for the visitors. As a result, Liverpool won the first leg of the Round of 16 against the Serie A champion.
