UEFA Nations League: Friday night results

The FIFA World Cup is knocking on the door. But, the UEFA Nations League has started already. Last night, Netherland destroyed Belgium. The Dutches beat the world no.2 by a 4-1 margin. At the same time, Denmark made a brilliant comeback to defeat the world champion, France.

Netherland 4-1 Belgium

Belgium welcomed Netherland at the King Baudouin Stadium to play the first match of Group 4. In this match, Netherland’s manager Luis Van Gaal set up the team formation with 3-5-2. He used two full-backs along with three center-backs. On the other hand, Belgium’s manager played his team 3-4-3.

Both teams played equally from the beginning of the match. But the fans had to wait until 40 minutes to see the first goal. Dutch striker Steven Bergwijn found the net in the 40th minute with the help of Frankie de Jong. Belgium tried hard to equalize before halftime but failed to score.

Returning from the break, Netherland looked more dangerous. They took 15 shots in the entire match. As a result, they doubled their lead at the start of the second half. Memphis Depay scored that goal in the 51st minute.

Ten minutes later, Denzel Dumfries scored the third goal of the Netherlands. He found the net with the help of D. Blind. Within four minutes, Memphis Depay scored his second and team’s fourth goal. However, Belgium returned a goal at the very last moment. Michy Batshuayi scored the only goal for Belgium in the 93rd minute. But it wasn’t enough to get anything from the match. As a result, Netherland won the match by a 4-1 margin.

Denmark VS France

Denmark surprised the world cup winner, France, at Stade de France. Despite conceding the first goal in the 51st minute, Denmark successfully returned two to win the match. The victory moved Denmark to second place at the point table.

However, France had more possession on the ball than Denmark. They also created more chances. But both teams couldn’t score in the first half. Anyway, Karim Benzema scored the first goal of the match in the 51st minute. But, Andreas Cornelius scored two more goals in the 68th and 88th minute for Denmark to win the game.
