West Indies defeated Bangladesh by 35 runs

West Indies welcomed Bangladesh to play a three-match T20 series. Due to bad weather, the first match was canceled. However, they played the second match at Windsor Park Dominica, where the home team defeated Bangladesh by 35 runs. Caribbean batsman Rovman Powell won the Player of the Match for destroying batting.

Match Report

In the 2nd match, West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss and decided to bat first. So, Brandon King and Kyle Mayers came into the pitch to start the batting innings for the home team. Both openers tried to play aggressively from the beginning of the match. But spinner Mehedi Hasan couldn’t let them make a big partnership. He picked up the wicket of Kyle Mayers in the 2nd over. Moreover, West Indies lost another wicket as Shakib Al Hasan hit in the 4th over.

After that, opener Brandon King tackled the initial disaster with the skipper, Nicholas Pooran. They made a partnership of 74 runs. However, Nicholas Pooran lost his wicket in the 13th over, scoring 34 off 30 balls. But Brandon King didn’t miss to get the half-century. Moreover, Rovman Powell started playing very aggressively in the middle order. He hit almost every ball he faced. Powell remained not out in 61 runs. In addition, he scored that runs from 28 balls only. Depending on his bat, West Indies set a target of 194 runs for Bangladesh.

Chasing down a massive target, Bangladesh couldn’t get a decent start. Bangladesh lost their first wicket in the 2nd over as Liton Kumar Das departed the pitch after scoring only 5 runs. Moreover, Bangladesh lost another one in the same over as Obed McCoy took the wicket of Anamul Haque.

After losing two early wickets, Shakib Al Hasan tried to make a partnership with the skipper, Mahmudullah. But Mahmudullah couldn’t stay longer on the pitch. He had to go back to the pavilion after scoring 11 runs only.

However, Shakib didn’t stop. He made a partnership of 55 runs with Afif Hossain. But this wasn’t enough to win the match. Shakib scored 68 off 52 balls, while Afif Hossain added 34 runs for the team. Anyway, Bangladesh’s innings ended in 158 runs. As a result, West Indies won the match by 35 runs.
