Match Report

Netherland welcomed West Indies at the VRA Cricket Ground in the final game of the series. Nicholas Pooran, the captain of the West Indies, won the toss and decided to bat first. So, Shai Hope and Kyle Mayers came down to the pitch to start the innings for the visitors. Both batsmen had a brilliant start against the home team.

But Kyle Mayers was a bit more aggressive than Shai Hope. They picked up 58 runs in the opening partnership. After that, Shai Hope departed the pitch in the 12th over. Before losing the wicket to Bas de Leede, Shai Hope added 24 runs on the scoreboard.

After that, Kyle Mayers made a brilliant partnership with the new batsman, Sharmarh Brooks. They looked very comfortable on the pitch. Together they scored 184 runs for the team. Both batsmen picked up half-centuries and then centuries. However, their partnership broke in the 41st over as Kyle Mayes lost the wicket, scoring the highest 120 runs for the team. On the other hand, Sharmarh Brooks remained not out in 101 runs. Relying on these two big scores, West Indies set a massive target of 309 runs for the home team.

Chasing the target, the home team had a brilliant start as well. Vikramjit Singh and Max O’Dowd, the two openers of Netherland, were very determined to chase the run. They added 98 runs in the opening partnership. Unfortunately, their partnership broke as Vikramjit Singh lost the wicket in the 18th over.

After that, Max O’Dowd made another partnership of 66 runs with the new player, Musa Ahmed. It looked like they could chase the target. But Musa Ahmed lost the wicket in the 30th over. He scored 42 runs before losing the wicket. Anyway, Max O’Dowd continued scoring runs. He tried so hard to win the match. But, his innings ended in the 43rd over as he departed the pitch after scoring 89 runs for the team. The remaining batsmen couldn’t score enough to get something from the match. As a result, West Indies won the match and whitewashed Netherland.
