England have sealed the three-match T20 series away from home as they beat Australia in the first two games. England won the first match earlier, and today they secured the series by defeating Australia at Manuka Oval Stadium. English batter Dawid Malan received the Player of the Match award for his devastating batting against the home team.

As it happened

Aussie captain Aaron Finch won the toss at Manuka Oval and decided to bowl first. So, the visitors started their batting innings with Alex Hales and Josh Buttler. Unfortunately, both batters failed to get a flying start as they did in the 1st game. They added 21 runs in the opening partnership. Then, Pat Cummins picked up Josh Buttler in the 4th over. England lost another wicket in the next over as Alex Hales departed the crease after scoring only 4 runs.

Aussie bowlers dominated the first ten overs. Due to their aggression, England lost two more wickets within 10 overs. It seemed the visitors could become all out before 20 overs. However, Dawid Malan stepped forward to rescue England. He made a fantastic partnership of 92 runs with Moeen Ali.

Although Malan got a half-century, Moeen Ali failed to get so. Moeen Ali departed the crease after scoring 44 runs, while Dawid Malan added the highest 82 runs before losing the wicket. Relying on their bats, England ended their innings with 178 runs.

Defending the run, England got a brilliant start. They picked up two batters of Australia in the powerplay. Warner left the crease in the 3rd over, while captain Finch lost his wicket after scoring 13 runs. After that, Mitchell Marsh tried to tackle the initial disaster with Glenn Maxwell. Together they added 31 runs on the scoreboard. Unfortunately, Maxwell lost his wicket, scoring 8 runs.

However, Mitchell Marsh tried very hard to get a good result. He added another 40 runs with Marcus Stoinis. But pacer Sam Curran broke their partnership as he picked up Stoinis in the 12th over. After a while, Mitchell Marsh also followed the same path. Marsh departed the crease, scoring 45 runs.

Australia got closer to the target, depending on Tim David’s bat. Tim David added 40 runs only from 23 balls. Unfortunately, his runs were not enough to win the match. Despite trying very hard, Australia had to end their innings with 170 runs. As a result, England won the 2nd match by eight runs and sealed the series.
