The FIFA World Cup 2022 is knocking at the door. Every team has already announced its primary squad for the Qatar World Cup. Like others, England manager Gareth Southgate has also announced England’s squad ahead of the biggest show on earth.

England are the fifth team in the FIFA Men’s Football Ranking. For the last few years, England have produced some exciting young talents who can change the game at any time. England lost the final of the UEFA Euro in 2020 under Gareth Southgate. Two years earlier, the Southgate boys lost a massive opportunity in the Russia World Cup, as they ended their World Cup journey after losing against Croatia in the semi-final.

However, Gareth Southgate is very determined to get a good result in the Qatar World Cup. But the injuries of his defenders make him very concerned. Several defenders are in doubt for the World Cup.

Potential World Cup absentees

England have announced a very strong line-up for the World Cup. But several players may miss the tournament due to injuries. Here they are:

  • Trent Alexader Arnold: England’s first-choice right-back Trent Alexander Arnold got a knock in the match against Arsenal. He missed the last match of Liverpool due to an ankle injury. He will be out for two weeks.
  • Reece James: Reece James has been playing brilliantly for Chelsea since the last season. He has made himself the starter for England. The injury, however, shattered him. Therefore, he may return to the squad for World Cup.
