India humiliated Australia in the 1st test

India have hosted a four-match test series against Australia. The series started on February 9, and after playing for only three days, India sealed the victory today. The home team defeated the Aussies by an innings and 132 runs.

1st Innings of Australia

Pat Cummins, the captain of Australia, won the toss and decided to bat first. So, David Warner and Usman Khwaja came into the crease to start the innings for Australia. But the start was a total disaster for the Aussies. Warner and Usman Khwaja returned to the pavilion within the first two overs.

After that, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith took responsibility and tried to make a long partnership. They added 82 runs together on the scoreboard. When their partnership was looking good, Ravindra Jadeja hit the Aussies brutally. In the 36th over, Jadeja picked up double wickets for India. Smith and Labuschagne departed the pitch in this over, scoring 37 and 49 runs.

Peter Handscomb and Alex Carry tried to carry the team, but they had to depart the pitch before getting a half-century. Peter Handscomb scored 31, and Carry added 36 for the team. For India, Ravindra Jadeja picked up five wickets alone. Due to his aggressiveness, Australia became all-out in 177 runs.

1st Innings of India

India had a strong start in their first innings. Captain Rohit led the team with his classy batting. He made a partnership of 76 runs with KL Rahul. But Rahul lost his wicket in the 23rd over, scoring 23 runs.

After that, Aussie bowler Todd Murphy started destroying the Indian batting lineup. He was very ruthless against India. Todd Murphy picked up seven wickets alone in this innings.

It seemed India could all out before trailing. But skipper Rohit Sharma remained very strict and kept scoring runs. Before leaving the pitch, Rohit scored 12o runs for India.

In addition, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel played crucial innings in the lower order. Jadeja added 70, while Patel scored 84. Relying on these runs, India scored 400 runs and took a lead of 223.

2nd Innings of Australia

The visitors also failed to make a good start in their second innings. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, the two spinners of India, destroyed Aussie’s batting lineup. This time, Ashwin got five wickets, and Jadeja got two to end Australia’s innings in 91 runs.

Steve Smith tried hard to stay long on the pitch. He also remained not out in 25 runs, but the others failed to stay. In the end, India won the match by an innings and 132 runs.
