India humiliate Sri Lanka in the 3rd match

India completed the clean sweep over Sri Lanka. India hosts the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, where India secured the series earlier by winning the first two games. However, the home team humiliated Sri Lanka today as they defeated the Lankan by a massive 317 runs.

Toss: Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, won the toss and decided to bat first.

Shubman and Rohit brought a flying start

Winning the toss, the two openers of India got a flying start. Shubman Gill and Rohit Shamra were very aggressive between the wickets. They successfully played the powerplay without losing any wickets. Together they made a partnership of 95 runs. However, their partnership broke in the 16th over as Rohit Sharma lost his wicket to Chamika Karunarathne, scoring 42 runs.

Virat Kohli continues performing

After the departure of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli came into the crease and started showing his class against the Lankan bowlers. He kept accelerating the run rate along with Shubman Gill.

On the 3rd wicket, India got a massive partnership. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli added 131 runs. Gill, unfortunately, lost his wicket in the 34th over. But the opener picked up a half-century before leaving the crease.

However, Virat Kohli ruled the Lankan bowlers in the entire innings. Like Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli also got his century in the 3rd ODI. He remained not out in 166 runs, hitting eight sixes and 13 fours. Relying on his bat, India scored a massive 390 runs against Sri Lanka.

Indian bowlers outplayed the visitors

Chasing the massive target, Sri Lanka tried to play attacking from the beginning. Unfortunately, they were totally dominated by the Indian bowlers. Sri Lank lost their first wicket in the 2nd over as Mohammad Siraj picked up Avishka Fernando.

After that, Nuwanidu Fernando tried hard to build a partnership with Kusal Mendis. But they failed to survive long. Within 40 runs, Sri Lanka lost six wickets.

Mohammad Siraj was on fire against the Lankan batsmen. He picked up four wickets alone. Moreover, Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav also took two wickets each. Consequently, Sri Lanka were all out for 73 runs, confirming India’s 317-run victory.
