It is the first time since February 1995, Manchester United conceded five goals without scoring one at Old Trafford. They are now seventh in the points table along with  Everton, Leicester City, and Arsenal. On the other side, Liverpool are just one point behind the league leader, Chelsea.

Match Report

Last night Manchester United welcomed Liverpool at Old Trafford. Ole Gunnar Solskajaer, manager of Manchester United, made one change in this match. He dropped Paul Pogba for Mctominay. Ole used two defensive midfielders, Fred and Mctominay. On the other side, Jurgen Klopp set up an attacking formation with 4-3-3. However, Klopp also made one change. He replaced Sadio Mane with Diego Jota.

The Klopp boys start dominating from the very beginning of the match. They pressed very highly and pushed for goals. As a result, Liverpool scored the first goal in just five minutes. Mohammad Salah made a quick run towards the box of Manchester United and passed the ball to Naby Keita. Midfielder Naby Keita was very clinical at that moment and found the net.

Don’t miss:  Manchester United decided to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Within 8 minutes, Liverpool doubled their lead as Diego Jota scored from the cross of Alexander Arnold. However, Mohammad Salah got his first goal in this game in the 38th minute. He converted the pass from Naby Keita into the goal.

Mohammad Salah completed his hat-trick by scoring two goals in the additional minutes of the first half and 50th minute. Salah is in superb form this season. He already scored 15 goals in his 12 appearances for Liverpool. He is also the top scorer of the league as of now. Anyway, Manchester United are winless in their last four league games. They are having a very difficult time indeed.

Ole’s Situation

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a great squad this season. Bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back in the team, fans were hoping to see a better performance from the team. But the team is not doing well under Ole. Many experts think it is a tactical error of the coach. But the Manchester United Board still believes in Ole. They are giving him some time. Ole spoke to the press conference after the match. He said,

I’ve come too far. We’ve come too far as a group. We’re too close to give up now.  That’s going to be a difficult one [lifting everyone]. I understand human nature and the players are going to be low. I’ll just look into their eyes and the character of them. I know loads of characters are there. I know we’re rock bottom and can’t feel any worse than this so let’s see where we take it.
