Match Report

In Group 4, table topper Netherlands welcomed Poland at the De Kuip Stadium. Luis Van Gaal, the home team manager, set up the team formation with 3-5-2. He used two full-backs with three center-backs. In the front, the manager deployed Memphis Depay with Bergwijn. On the other hand, Poland’s manager played his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Unfortunately, Poland missed the service of their biggest star, Robert Lewandowski. He was absent due to an injury.

Anyway, the home team tried to keep more possession on the ball from the start of the match. But, Poland were more threatening whenever they got the ball. Moreover, the visiting team found the net early. In the 18th minute, Poland’s right back Matty Cash scored a stunning goal with the help of Zalewski. Netherlands couldn’t return this in the first half.

Dutch midfielder Devy Klaassen found the net for Netherland in the 51st minute, which gave an enormous boost to the entire squad. As a result, Netherland hit again within a few minutes. Scoring the first goal, the Netherlands equalized with Poland as Danzel Dumfries found the net for the Dutches in the 54th minute.

Moreover, Netherland missed a huge opportunity to win the match. At the very last moment, the match referee offered a penalty kick which was taken by Memphis Depay. But, he was very unfortunate as the goalkeeper saved it. As a result, the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
