2nd Test: West Indies VS Bangladesh

The second and final test of the series between Bangladesh and the West Indies started on June 24. Bangladesh have already played their first innings, where they became all out in 234 runs. However, West Indies are still playing their first innings. After the 2nd day, the Caribbean took a lead of 106 runs against Bangladesh. In addition, the home team has five wickets left in the first innings.

1st Innings of Bangladesh

Kraigg Brathwaite, the skipper of West Indies, won the toss and decided to bowl first. So, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudul Hasan Joy came off the pitch to start the batting innings for Bangladesh. Bangladesh played very carefully in the first ten overs.

But the visitors started losing wickets from the 13th over as Mahmudul Hasan Joy departed the pitch after scoring only 10 runs. Anderson Phillip took his wicket in the 13th over. After that, Tamim Iqbal was heading to get the half-century. Unfortunately, he missed it only for four runs as Alzarri Joseph picked up his wicket in the 23rd over.

The next two batters of Bangladesh contributed a little to the team. They couldn’t stay longer on the pitch due to the attacking bowling of the Caribbean bowlers. However, Liton Kumar Das tried to hold the team in the middle order. Before losing the wicket, Liton scored the highest 53 runs for Bangladesh. Moreover, Liton Kumar Das became the first batsman in 2022 to score 1000 runs. However, Bangladesh became all out in 234 runs as the remaining batters couldn’t stay long.

1st Inning of West Indies

West Indies had a flying start as they picked up 100 runs in the opening partnership. Jonh Campbell and captain Kraigg Brathwaite ruled the Bangladeshi bowlers in the first 20 overs. Kraigg Brathwaite got a half-century, while Campbell was unfortunate to do so. Campbell departed the pitch after scoring 45 runs.

However, Bangladesh took three quick wickets of the home team. In the 39th over, pacer Khaled Ahmed picked up two wickets. Raymond Reifer and Nkrumah Bonner departed the pitch in this over. But, West Indies had already taken the lead. They ended Day 2 with 340 runs. So, they will start batting again today.
