The UEFA Champions League returns tonight. In Group G, German club Borussia Dortmund will host Manchester City tonight at Signal Iduna Park. Manchester City already secured a place in the Round of 16, while Borussia Dortmund need only one point from their remaining two games.

Stats and Records

German club Borussia Dortmund don’t have a sweet record against the English champion Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League. The Black and Yellows have won just one of their last five meeting against Man City in the UCL.

On the other hand, Manchester City have won their last three consecutive matches against Dortmund, with a 2-1 margin in every game. In addition, the Guardiola boys have been fantastic against any German sides. They won 14 of their last 16 games against German clubs.

Recent Form

Manchester City are flying in the English Premier League. They are standing in 2nd place, just two points behind the table topper. The Citizens have scored 18 goals in their last six games in all competitions, where they conceded only five.

On the other side, Borussia Dortmund lost a match in the UCL and tied one as well. Moreover, the Black and Yellows won only two of their last five games in all competitions.

Team News

Borussia Dortmund have some major injury issues in their team ahead of tonight’s clash. Thomas Meunier, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Mateu Morey, Mahmoud Dahoud, and Sebastien Haller are all ruled out due to injury. However, Donyell Malen and Marco Reus are available again after the duo missed the weekend’s victory due to illness.

Like the home team, Man City also have injury problems. England internationals Kyle Walker and Kelvin Phillips will not be available for tonight’s match. But John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan are ready for the match.

Guardiola’s Thoughts

Pep Guardiola is excited to play at Signal Iduna Park. He said, “It is a fantastic stadium – everyone knows it. The atmosphere and the attractive football they play. When I was here in Germany, I played against Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel and it was top.”
